Traditional Chinese Medicine Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (TCM-Blast) is a web interface for traditional Chinese medicine protein and DNA sequence similarity searches. It contains about the size of 40G traditional Chinese medicines¡¯ genome data, including protein and DNA sequence for 36 traditional Chinese medicines with high medical value. The development of a publicly accessible traditional Chinese medicine genome alignment database hosted on the TCM-Blast website ¨C http://viroblast.pungentdb.org.cn/viroblast/ viroblast.php- expands to query multiple sequence databases to obtain TCM genome data, and provides friendly output for easy analysis and browsing of BLAST results.
ViroBLAST in Dr. Mullins Lab at University of Washington was established to provide sequence comparison and contamination checking on viral research. It is readily useful for all research areas that require BLAST functions and is available as a downloadable archive for independent installation. ViroBLAST implements the NCBI C++ Toolkit BLAST command line applications referred as the BLAST+ applications.
With the common features of other BLAST tools, the ViroBLAST provides features like:
